ACT Prep Instructors

MaranathaEd conducts most of its classes on weekday evenings and weekends. Instructors need only commit to six hours per week, with the opportunity to take on additional assignments.

MaranathaEd Part-Time ACT Prep Classroom Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

Create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishing effective rapport with pupils; motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Teaches specific subjects to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study created by MaranathaEd, LLC.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes at a local high school in Kansas City, Kansas.
  • Part-Time: 8am – 11am Monday – Friday with class time varying depending on the schedule.                       
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Treat pupils with respect and dignity.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Serves as a model for MaranathaEd’s mission, vision and goals.
  • Analyzes and uses appropriate data to assess the progress of students and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Collaborates with staff and stakeholders to effectively design and implement ACT strategies.
  • Advocates for ACT prep students’ access to and success in rigorous coursework.
  • Provides detailed plans for substitute teachers including lessons, schedules and rules regarding classroom organization, procedures, and individual student needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED)

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with expertise in college-prep subject areas (English, Mathematics, Reading & Science)
  • Three years of collaborative teaching experience preferred.
  • Spanish speaking preferred but not required

KNOWLEDGE OF JOB

Capability to develop and implement long-term goals. Knows how to keep abreast of any changes in statutes, policy, procedures, and methods as they pertain to private education. Can effectively communicate and interact with subordinates, supervisors, members of the general public, and other groups involved in the operation of the school system. Can assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner. Has good organizational, management, interpersonal, and technical skills. Can use independent judgment and discretion in supervising subordinates, including the handling of emergency situations, determining, and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems.

  • Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

  • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone.
  • Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds.
